Becoming a Doctor

Today marks a significant milestone on my life's journey—the successful defense of my doctoral dissertation. Reflecting on the challenging yet rewarding past 2.5 years, I am filled with immense gratitude and a profound sense of humility.

My advising professors and mentors, Ryan W. Longnecker, EdD, DBA, Jana Estergard Roberts, Ed.D., and Kristin Bledsoe, Ed.D your guidance transcended academic instruction, offering a beacon of wisdom during times of doubt and uncertainty. You encouraged me to push boundaries, think critically, and, most importantly, grow beyond what I thought possible. Your steadfast belief in my potential has been an enduring source of support.

To my bride of 33 years, Dee, and my amazing kids, your unwavering love and support have been the bedrock of my resolve. Juggling the demands of a doctoral program with personal and professional obligations is daunting, but your sacrifices and understanding smoothed the path and enriched this experience. Your quiet patience and encouragement were the forces that kept me moving forward, especially on the most challenging days.

And now, as I transition from the exacting standards of APA 7th Edition—yes, the era of Times New Roman 12pt, double-spaced (if you know, you know)—I embrace a refreshing change in my writing life. Freed from the confines of strict margins and precise headings, I am rediscovering my voice in "book mode." This creative resurgence, powered by the insights from my research, has culminated in my latest book, THE FOLLOWER EFFECT: A STORY ABOUT FLIPPING THE SCRIPT ON LEADERSHIP, which I am excited to share with you all when it releases later this year.

The Best is Yet to Come...Thank you ALL for being a part of my story. ONWARD!
